iWasHere is a geo-locational social networking message board. iWasHere allows you to create an augmented reality by enabling you to leave a message at a specific location which can then only be read at that location. You can write to a Public network that is readable and writable by everyone, or you can create your own private networks for just you and your friends.
Use iWasHere to leave a note for a friend at a bus stop, outside their work or in a park. Read or write reviews of stores and restaurants right outside their doors. Make a virtual community message board in your neighborhood. Hide directions to a secret party or a surprise proposal. Create a treasure hunt that uses virtual clues or do virtual geocaching. iWasHere can be whatever you want it to be. The only limit is your imagination!
iWasHere is now available on the App Store.
How To Create Networks
To create a network, select the Organize tab and then select the add button in the top right corner of the page. Enter a name and password for your network and select Done to create it or Cancel to return to the Organize page.
How To Subscribe To Existing Networks
Subscribing to an existing network is done the same way as when you create a network except that you need to get the network name and password from the creator of the network. Enter the name and password for the network on the add network page.
How To Write A Post
To write a new post, select the Write tab. This opens a list of your networks. Select one by touching it. This brings you to the write page. When you are finished writing, select Done to post or Cancel to return to the choose network page. Posts can be up to 140 characters long and are deleted from the network after 30 days.
How To Delete A Network
If you are the creator of a network you can permanently delete the network by going to the manage page and selecting the Edit button in the top left corner. You can then delete the network by touching the red circle to the left of the network and then the Delete button that appears.
If you have subscribed to a network but are not the creator you can still remove the network from your list but the network will continue to be available for other users and you can always re-subscribe.
Troubleshooting
iWasHere needs an accurate location to function properly. If your location cannot be determined to within 50 m (150 ft), then you need to use the ‘refresh’ button at the top left of the main page. To get accurate location results make sure that you have a clear line of sight to the sky. Depending on where you are, it may take up to 30 seconds to get an accurate location.
